Every spy movie has at least one scene set amid dense fog with a hushed conversation…or so it seems. In yet another "air curtain saves the day" moment, we’ve learned that air curtains are helping researchers at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Sandia create enough consistent fog in a chamber to allow for testing of sensors and cameras to help better design equipment to perform surveillance in fog conditions. The chamber can also serve to provide answers to fundamental optics questions that advance knowledge and make aircraft landings safer, driving safer, and medical imaging equipment more robust. Once again, the air curtain does the job it has become legendary for across a multitude of industries and uses – protect and defend from incursions, keep air exchange from happening, and create a virtual wall of separation.
